In America, I was called River. I got a new name after I came to Korea. From now on, my name is Sung Hwan Lim. It means a big tree of enlightenment. And I also got the Spiritual name. It is Ja Song Won In the middle of summer, the tree forest gives clear air, shade, and comfortable rest. It means to be a good person. In the old days, Koreans usually had three names. There was a legal name, a home-calling name, and a respectful title for each other as adults. For those who achieved great achievements, after the person died, the fourth name "Siho" was created to honor their dedication and hard work. After coming to Korea, I wanted to start something new. Then, I became interested in names. Names exist for the usefulness of the person who calls rather than for me. It was mine, but I don't think I've ever used it that much. If you say your name, you can tell whether you love yourself or not. If you shout out three times out loud, some may feel proud, but others may feel uncomfortable to hear. Only when you can love yourself you can love the world. This is an era in which people who love themselves create new things. It's a small start for one person, but I believe the echo of creation will be conveyed to many people. Just as the impact of COVID-19 is a kind of novelty, so is the wisdom to overcome it. The 21st century, when we have to live, should be coexistence and co-prosperity. And the beginning is the emergence of newness that comes from a small heart that loves itself. You should have a name that is not made to be called by others, but a name that is called to me as a milestone that accurately tells you the direction of your life. 한국에 와서 새로운 이름이 생겼다.
지금부터는 나의 이름은 임성환이다.
깨달음의 큰 나무라는 뜻이다.
그리고 함께 부를 아호도 받았다.

옛날의 한국 사람들은 보통 이름이 3개였다.
법률적인 이름이 있었고, 집에서 부르는 이름, 그리고 성인이 되어 서로 존중하는 호칭으로 아호라는 것이 있었다.
아주 위대한 업적을 이룬 사람에게는 그 사람이 죽고 난 후 시호라는 4번째 이름을 만들어 헌신과 노고를 기리기도 했다.
한국에 오고 나서, 뭔가 새로운 출발을 원했다. 그러다가, 이름에 대해 관심이 생겼다.

큰 소리로 세번만 불러보면 가슴 뿌듯한 이도 있지만, 듣기 거북한 이도 있을 것이다.
자기를 사랑할 수 있어야 세상을 사랑할 수 있다.
지금은 자기를 사랑하는 사람이 새로움을 창조하는 시대이다.
한사람의 작은 출발이지만, 창조의 울림은 많은 사람들에게 전해질 걸로 믿는다.
